Pilgerhaus

Another big day for our Pilgrims! As Chris said they started the day going to Bethlehem which is a ways outside of Jerusalem. We have a romantic vision of a stable and a manger filled with hay when the actual site is more like a cave or a room made out of naturally placed stone.

The guys have a two-night stay at Pilgerhaus, which is considered a resort on the Sea of Galilee, which in reality is a beautiful lake. It is a nice, pretty, seaside hotel with a beautiful bar on the beach. I called earlier and the group was celebrating Eucharist down on the beach before dinner. It may be a little more difficult for your loved ones to stay in touch here because internet is sparse.

They will sleep well with the cool breeze off the water and the quietness will be a welcome change from hearing the Muslim call to prayer from loud speakers mounted on the street corners in Jerusalem (which can be heard loud and clear at St. George's).

Pilgerhaus - Tabgha Guesthouse
Owned by the German Association of the Holy Land, based in Cologne, Pilgerhaus is a major Catholic pilgrimage site where Jesus’ miracle of the multiplication of the fishes occurred
